The Canadian Association for Leisure Studies (CALS) invites you to attend "Leisure Under Living Skies" as part of Congress 2018, Gathering Diversities. "Leisure Under Living Skies" reflects the state of change in leisure studies. The province of Saskatchewan is known for its vast horizon and its "Living Skies" are beautiful, forceful, dramatic, and ever-changing. Just as the skies in Saskatchewan are vast and open, our conference will encompass a gathering of diverse leisure perspectives, behaviours, pursuits, and methodologies.
CALS is an association created by scholars and practitioners working in the field of leisure and related areas (including recreation, tourism, therapeutic recreation, and sport). Since its first formal meeting (or Congress), which was held in Quebec City in 1975, CALS has worked to meet the following four goals: (1) to create a platform for Canadian leisure researchers and those working in related fields; (2) to gather in the spirit of fostering critical dialogue, sharing research, building and strengthening relationships; (3) to support colleagues, especially emerging scholars and graduate students; and (4) to make more visible the importance of leisure to individual and community wellbeing.
This will be the first time CALS has been present at the Congress and we are very excited about joining the community!
